Nature Escapes South Coast New South Wales
We have had a great time researching this beautiful region, finding some new spots and revisiting some of our old favourites. From exploring wild wind swept beaches to camping in the lush hinterland, taking in stunning views from spectacular lookouts or 4wding along one of the many mountain trails, the South Coast of New South Wales has so much to offer the modern day explorer. There are waterfalls, deep gorges and even historic whaling station ruins to explore to name just a few of this regions never ending attractions.
We have developed this guide for people who, like ourselves love getting out of the towns and exploring the rich cultural diversity, scenic natural highlights and delving into the fascinating history. To complete your exploration why not do as our forefathers have done and spend a night or two under the stars with a myriad of camping options to choose from.
The South Coast starts just south of Sydney and stretches all the way to the Victorian Border and encompasses the wild hinterland along the Great Dividing Range. It is an ideal getaway for those who love wild, unspoilt beaches away from the crowds to waterfalls and abandoned industrial sites hidden deep within the mountain ranges.
Whether you wish to stroll along a deserted beach, bush walk through mountain ranges, canoe along quiet rivers or highland dams, take in the vistas from atop mountain peaks and stunning waterfalls, paddle in the ocean, have enjoyable car and 4wd touring or find that secluded bush camping spot the South Coast of New South Wales is certainly the place to be. It continues to be one of our favourite “Nature Escapes”.
