The Castle Beach Spa Cloth is the second in the Folk Tales Spa Cloth Collection. Like the Fairy Godmother’s Spa Cloth, it is knit sideways, using pima cotton to create a soft, luxurious and pampering facial cloth.
Skills Needed: Yarn overs, k2tog decreases, slipping stitches.
Size: Approximately 8 x 8 ½ inches [20.3 x 21.6 cm].
Yarn: 1 skein Cascade Yarns Ultra Pima Fine (Sport/5 ply; 100% Pima Cotton; 136.7 yds/50 grams).
Needles: US size 4 [3.5 mm] or size needed to obtain gauge.
Gauge: 22 sts and 44 rows = 4" [10 cm] in garter stitch. Gauge is not critically important.
The key to this pattern is using the correct needle size for the yarn - one which allows the lace pattern to be open just enough to show, but not so much that it loses its definition. If substituting yarn, try the largest needle size recommended on the ball band, or even one size larger. You may have to experiment a bit to find the look you like.
