Dies ist die Arie „Ombra mai fù“ aus der Oper „Xerxes“ (Serse) von Händel, ein Liebeslied des Königs von Persien, Xerxes, an einen Baum. Es zählt zu Händels bekanntesten Melodien und wird oft schlicht als „Händels Largo“ bezeichnet. Der Bearbeitung für Kontrabass und Klavier (oder Harfe) liegen zwei Piano-Stimmen bei: eine in A-Dur zur Begleitung des Kontrabasses in Solostimmung und eine in G-Dur zur Begleitung des Kontrabasses in Orchesterstimmung.
