Sizes
Choose a size approx 5 cm (2 in) less than your actual head size for a snug fit. Sizes given are finished hat brim circumference.
18 months-4years: 40cm/15¾in
4 years- adult small: 44cm/17¼in
Medium adult: 48cm/19in
Large adult: 50cm/20¼in
Yarn choices
You will need DK/light worsted yarns. I used Jamieson’s pure wool DK, a lovely shetland yarn. Wool or natural fibres are recommended to allow the hat to be wet-blocked into shape (instructions and links to tutorials included).
Construction and skills
Hat is made bottom up in the round.

Circular knitting (pattern assumes the use of a circular needle with magic loop for crown decreases, but is easily adapted for your preferred circular methods)
Basic lace knitting skills (yarn overs/ paired decreases etc)
This hat needs blocking to achieve the shape shown and open the lace.
