Detailer Job Math Sheet: Pricing, Break-Even & Trip Fee Template (Google Sheets + Excel)
A $75 wash can look fine on the invoice and still pay a lot less per hour than you think, once setup, cleanup, the drive, card fees, product and your monthly costs are counted.
The Detailer Job Math Sheet does that math for every service on your menu. Type your own numbers into the yellow cells and the formulas do the rest.
FOR EACH SERVICE IT SHOWS:
- Real hourly rate: what the job pays per hour of your time, before and after a tax set-aside.
- Owner pay and business profit, kept separate: your wage at your target pay, and what the business keeps after paying you.
- Break-even price: the lowest price that pays your full target hourly.
- Suggested price: target pay plus your profit goal, rounded up.
- Suggested trip fee: what the drive actually costs you, plus optional distance bands.
- A status flag: LOSES MONEY, BELOW TARGET PAY, BELOW PROFIT GOAL, or ON TARGET.
WHAT'S INCLUDED:
- The spreadsheet (.xlsx) with 3 tabs: Start Here, Example, and My Numbers (blank, up to 6 services).
- A one-page quick-start PDF.
Works in Google Sheets (upload to Drive, then File > Save as Google Sheets) and Excel. No macros, add-ons or subscription.
WHO IT'S FOR:
Solo mobile car detailers who set their own prices and want to check whether a service, a menu price or a trip fee covers their time and costs.
The Example tab uses the $75 wash from the Job Math Sheets YouTube videos ($22.16/hr, $91.14 break-even, $105 suggested price, $23 trip fee). These are illustrative numbers, not real customer data. Your results depend on what you enter.
REFUNDS: Because this is an instant digital download, all sales are final. If the file won't open or a formula is broken, email me and I'll fix it or refund you.
