Understanding AuDHD with Elizabeth Brink Session 1 Recording
UNDERSTANDING + TREATING AUDHD
Session 1: Understanding AuDHD
A Clinical Training for Mental Health Professionals with Elizabeth Brink
Autism and ADHD frequently co-occur, yet many clinicians are trained to understand them as separate diagnostic categories rather than as a combined presentation with its own unique clinical picture.
In Session 1: Understanding AuDHD, Elizabeth Brink provides the clinical foundation for recognizing and understanding the co-occurrence of Autism and ADHD—often referred to as AuDHD.
This training explores why AuDHD is so often missed or misunderstood, how it may present in the therapy room, and why approaches that work well for Autistic clients or ADHD clients independently may not always account for the complexity of experiencing both.
In this session, you’ll explore:
- Masking and the ways it can obscure an AuDHD presentation
- Executive functioning challenges
- Sensory needs and sensory overwhelm
- Autistic and ADHD burnout
- Emotional regulation
- The internal push-pull between Autistic and ADHD traits
- Why an AuDHD client’s needs, behaviors, or experiences may appear contradictory
- Considerations for developing a more neurodiversity-affirming clinical understanding of AuDHD
This session is designed for mental health professionals who want to deepen their understanding of neurodivergent clients and build a stronger foundation for working with AuDHD in clinical practice.
PLEASE NOTE: This digital purchase includes Session 1: Understanding AuDHD. Session 2, Clinical Application, is a separate training that builds on this foundation through case conceptualization, therapeutic adaptations, common clinical missteps, and neurodiversity-affirming strategies for practice.
