Riihi

Riihi is a crescent shaped shawl with garter stitch and two-color brioche. This shawl uses a special technique to work two-color brioche with short row shaping. This technique isn’t difficult but requires two circular needles. The shawl is finished off with a contrast color zig zag edge and an i-cord bind off. The best thing about the shawl is that it’s fully reversible – you can use it with either side on top.

One size, medium.

Yarn
Pirtin Kehräämö Kampalanka 90 TEX x 3 (100 % wool, 360 m/100 g), or other light fingering weight yarn. Shown in colorways Light gray (MC) and Orange (CC).

MC: 2 skein, CC: 1 skein.

Yardage
525 yards / 480 m (MC), 305 yards / 280 m (CC).

Needles
Two sets of US 5 (3.75 mm) - 36’’/100 cm long circular needles. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the right gauge.

Gauge
16 sts x 24 rows = 4x4’’ / 10x10 cm in garter stitch, worked flat (after blocking).

Removable stitch marker, tapestry needle.
