Welcome to “Nature Escapes Snowy Mountains New South Wales”. We have had a great time researching one of our all time favourite touring and camping destinations in the country. With awe inspiring vistas that go on for eternity in all directions, rustic cattlemans huts, crystal clear bubbling mountain streams, fresh mountain air and the possibility of snowfall at anytime of the year it is no wonder the Snowy Mountains are a favoured destination not only in winter but also in summer for many folk. The summer months in the snowies provide bushwalking, camping, car touring, 4wding, canoeing and fishing opportunities in abundance. The mountains also provide many horse riding opportunities with a number of horse camps found throughout the region. This is however Man from Snowy River country. The modern day explorer will not be disappointed summer or winter in the Snowy Mountains. In this guide we visit some of the well known and not so well known treasures of thiswonderful area from Long Plain with its historic homesteads, past historic and iconic cattlemans huts, hike to the ‘Roof of Australia’ and visit the start of the iconic Barry Way
into the Snowy River Valley.
