Tyro Tykes is a trumpet quartet specifically for students who have been playing for between six months to two years (depending on how quickly they advance as trumpet players). It is a delightful little march with harmonies that would typically be considered too advanced for this skill level.
The word "Tyro" means "beginner". We chose this word to represent the second of two beginner levels in our skill level system. Our system has a total of seven skill levels, two beginner levels, two intermediate, and three advanced levels.
We have a number of trumpet pieces written for this skill level along with supporting method books and exercises.
Just a quick note... the students do not need to perform Tyro Tykes at the tempo at which I recorded it in the video. It should sound fine at a slower tempo if the students need that.
