Little Snow Blanket

This is a digital file with a pattern to make the blanket, not the blanket itself.

A friend of mine had been struggling for years to start a family, so when she announced she was pregnant, I wanted to design a special blanket for her to celebrate the arrival of her little one. This blanket is knit in one piece, and while not strictly reversible, I chose stitch patterns that would look attractive on both sides, so there is not a clear right or wrong side.

The blanket size is easily adjusted by changing the number of pattern repeats (height) and casting on a different number of stitches (width) in multiples of 8 + 10 (multiple of 8 for the textured pattern section, +10 for seed stitch border). Finished blanket as written is approximately 33” wide and 29” high (84 x 74 cm).

The name of the pattern comes from one of the names my friend and her husband chose for their little girl: Koyuki, which means “little snow” in Japanese.

Low Vision Accessibility: This pattern is available in a low vision accessible format as a separate PDF with the pattern file name in ALL CAPS LVA. It is written in 24 point Arial font in all black text on a white background. All text is left-justified and has no italics. All of the directions are fully written out. This pattern is also screen reader accessible and has been reviewed and tested to work with a screen reader. It does not contain any parentheses.
