Kauai Dream

This is a digital file with a pattern to make the shawl, not the shawl itself.

This asymmetrical triangle is worked seamlessly in one piece, incorporating a wave edge, a profusion of ferns and leaves, and a lace pattern that is reminiscent of both waves and the scales of a fish. The increasing edge features a tidy 3-stitch rolled edge that looks almost identical to the I-cord bind-off. Optional beads sparkle at the crest of each wave along the gently scalloped edge, and highlight the bobble in the central leaf pattern. It is designed for any single 100 g. skein of fingering weight, and size can easily be adjusted by the number of rows worked.

Low Vision Accessibility: In addition to the standard format, this pattern is available in two additional formats: a large print format, with the pattern file name in ALL CAPS LVA, and as a screen reader version, with the pattern name plus SCREEN READER. Both versions are in Arial font in all black text on a white background. All text is left-justified and has no italics. The large print format is written in 24 point font and includes charts, but all directions are also written out and the charts are not needed to complete the pattern. The screen reader format contains no abbreviations or parentheses and has been reviewed and tested to work with a screen reader.

Uses: one skein of fingering weight yarn, 100 g. or approximately 400 yds/366 m.  Optional seed beads.  Sample used approximately 20 size 8/0 and 13 size 6/0.
