RocketPop Scrubby knit pattern

If you live in the United States, you have probably enjoyed one of those fun red, white, and blue popsicles. And there’s nothing that quite says summer like one of these popsicles on a hot day. And that is exactly what inspired the Rocket Pop Scrubby! 

But just because we use red, white, and blue here in the US, it doesn’t mean you should feel limited to those colors for your popsicle-shaped scrubby. You can easily knit this pattern with just one or two colors. And if you do decide to go with three, enjoy picking the colors you love to see together for a fun, personalized look. 

Working flat, you will knit in garter stitch for the first two-thirds of the popsicle. Simple decreases transform the piece into the classic shape you know and love. Finally, stitches are picked up for an i-cord at the base of the popsicle to give it that “popsicle stick” appearance. 

Whether knitting for yourself, a friend, or to sell, this nostalgic design will bring a bit of childhood fun to your day.

Materials

Yarn recommendations

For the popsicle: Red Heart, Scrubby Sparkle, fiber content: polyester 100%; 174 yards/159 meters; 3 oz/85 g, or similar yarn that knits to gauge.

For the popsicle stick: Red Heart, Scrubby, fiber content: polyester 100%; 78 yards/71 meters; 3 oz/85 g, or similar yarn that knits to gauge

Sample used the following quantities of yarn in the colorways named below. 

CC1: Red Heart, Scrubby Sparkle in Blueberry, 2 (6, 11) yards/2 (6, 10) meters, one ball.

CC2: Red Heart, Scrubby Sparkle in Strawberry, 2 (6, 11) yards/2 (6, 10) meters, one ball.

CC3: Red Heart, Scrubby Sparkle in Marshmallow, 2 (6, 11) yards/2 (6, 10) meters, one ball.

CC4: Red Heart Scrubby in Almond, 2 yards/2 meters, one ball.  

Knitting needles

US size 7/4.5 mm, or size used to match gauge - straight or circular as you prefer. DPNs or circular for knitting the i-cord. 

Notions

Locking stitch markers (4), scissors, tapestry needle.

19 sts x 30 rows over 4"/10 cm in garter stitch worked flat.
