Green Rush

When the 18’49ers heard of gold nuggets and dust in California hills and streams, they scrambled for mules, pickaxes, and mining pans. Now that California and Canada have legalized recreational cannabis use, and many states are rushing to do so, the 20’21ers are scarfing marijuana domain names, hiring MBA grads, and staking claims for their special brew of THC-infused beer.

Ever since California legalized medical use of cannabis in 1996, entrepreneurial people and people with money have been looking to turn the cannabis trade into a bonafide industry. The cannabis Green Rush has been a fast and chaotic ride as growing legalization opened myriad opportunities. It seemed for a while that marijuana was too big to fail.

You don’t have to be a “Business Scientist”  like me to see that Cannabis legalization is sweeping over North America – 19 states plus Washington, D.C., have all legalized recreational marijuana over the last few years, and full legalization came to Canada in October 2018. It’s going to make a lot of people a lot of money, so why not you and I?
