The Delphi shawl is named for the location where the Pythian Games, one of the four Panhellenic Games of Ancient Greece, were held. These games honoring Apollo were held every 4 years, 2 years after the Olympiads, and the winner was awarded a laurel wreath (the Olympic games honored Zeus with an olive wreath as the prize for the winner):
• The fans signify rays of sunshine for Apollo, believed by the ancient Greeks to be the god of sun & light.
The ch3 loops represent the athletes competing in the various events.
The lower border of “laurel tips” represent the laurel wreath given to the winner.
