Chopin’s music has always posed a challenge to pianists. His music has retained a universal popularity and continues to be performed worldwide. Recordings and re-recordings of his music probably amount to thousands, so Chopin is apparently very well represented – but has the challenge to his interpreter ever been successfully met?
This book explores those challenges and discusses possible solutions.
As a professional pianist with Chopin’s music deeply embedded in my head, heart and fingers I offer this small book and accompanying CDs not as yet another biography on Chopin or a technical treatise, but to share ‘from the inside’ my personal thoughts and research findings on the subject of how to interpret his revelatory Grandes Etudes, Op.10 and Op.25.
