Henry Thomas Smart (1813-1879) was an English organist and composer. He was known for his hymn tunes, such as "Regent Square," and his contributions to church music. Smart was bornin London and was the nephew of the conductor Sir George Smart. He initially studied law but soon switched to music, becoming proficient in organ playing and composition.
"Lady, Rise, Sweet Morn's Awaking" is a secular part-song. It was first published in 1869 in the Novello Part-Song Book (2nd Series). The lyrics were written by William Smallcombe Passmore.
