THE RAPTURE – The Lord Himself Will Descend by Bro H
Spoken Intro Jesus lifted His eyes to the Father and prayed for the men He was sending into the world: “I do not ask You to take them out of the world, but to keep them from the evil.” Verse 1 Jesus said the Kingdom was like a man who sowed good seed in his field. While men slept, an enemy came and planted tares among the wheat. At the harvest He tells the reapers, “Gather the tares together first and bind them in bundles to be burned; then gather the wheat into My barn.” The Son of Man sends forth His angels to gather out of His Kingdom those who practice iniquity. Then the righteous shine like the sun in the Kingdom of their Father. Verse 2 Jesus said His coming would shine like lightning crossing the sky from east to west. Immediately after the tribulation of those days, the sign of the Son of Man will appear. He will send His angels with the great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather His elect from the four winds of the earth. As the flood took the wicked in Noah’s day, and the fire destroyed Sodom after Lot went out, even so it will be when the Son of Man is revealed. Chorus The Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and the trumpet of God. This same Jesus will return in the same manner as the disciples watched Him go. His feet will stand upon the Mount of Olives, and we will reign upon the earth. Verse 3 Paul did not want the brethren ignorant concerning those who had fallen asleep. He did not want them grieving as those who had no hope. As Jesus died and rose again, so the dead in Christ will also rise. At the last trumpet the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we who are living will be changed — the resurrection of the body, the whole man restored to meet his King. Verse 4 Paul said those who are alive and remain will be joined as one with the resurrected. Harpazo — to seize, to catch, to pluck — the same word used when Philip was taken by the Spirit and found at Azotus, still upon the earth. The clouds are the divine presence of God that came down at Sinai, stood over Israel in the wilderness, and filled Solomon's earthly temple. The living and the resurrected are united in the cloud of His presence as the King descends in power to the earth. Chorus The Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and the trumpet of God. This same Jesus will return in the same manner as the disciples watched Him go. His feet will stand upon the Mount of Olives, and we will reign upon the earth. Verse 5 The word for "meet" is apantesis — the formal welcome given to an arriving king. The virgins went out to meet the bridegroom and accompanied him to the wedding feast. The people went out to meet Jesus with palm branches in their hands, then accompanied Him into Jerusalem. The brethren came out from Rome and met Paul on the road, then accompanied him the rest of the way into the city. The welcoming people always go out to meet the arriving ruler and accompany him to his destination. So the saints go out to meet the descending King and accompany Him to His throne upon the earth. Bridge Where the King is, His people will be. Where He reigns, they will reign beside Him. He is not taking us away from the earth — He is coming to establish His Kingdom upon the earth The comfort is resurrection, reunion, and a Kingdom that will never end. Verse 6 The Lord Jesus will be revealed from heaven with ten thousands of His mighty angels. He comes upon a white horse, righteous in judgment and in war. The wicked are consumed by the brightness of His coming. Then the holy city, New Jerusalem, comes down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. The tabernacle of God is with men. He has made us kings and priests, and we will reign upon the earth. Final Chorus The Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and the trumpet of God. This same Jesus will return in the same manner as the disciples watched Him go. His feet will stand upon the Mount of Olives, and we will reign upon the earth. Outro This is the Blessed Hope — the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ.
