Full description

This toolkit is for chief engineers, general managers, finance controllers and owners who want to see where a hotel's electricity, water and gas go and what to do about it. It gives you a workbook to log meters and track use per occupied room, a guide with 64 energy and water saving measures, and printable forms for audits and monthly checks. Every figure that depends on your building, tariff or local rules is an editable input. The workbook ships with a 120-room example property, so every tab shows numbers on first open.

Save with a bundle: this template is also in the Hotel Engineering, Safety & Compliance Bundle, 11 templates for $35 instead of $83. All 141 templates are in the All-Access Hospitality Template Library for $79.

How it works

  1. Enter your rooms, floor area, tariffs and thresholds on Settings, then list your meters.
  2. Add meter readings and occupied room nights each month. The workbook calculates use, cost and intensity per occupied room and per sqm.
  3. Set monthly targets. Flags show OK, WATCH or OVER. The dashboard shows totals, a monthly snapshot and four charts.
  4. Log invoices, leaks, night flow tests and setpoint checks. Rank savings projects by payback and NPV.
  5. Use the guide and forms for audits, staff briefings and the monthly energy review.

What software do I need? Excel 2016 or later for the workbook. Word files open in any word processor. PDFs open in any reader.

Does it work in Google Sheets? You can upload the workbook to Google Sheets. Formulas, drop-downs and most formatting carry over, but charts and some conditional formatting may look different. Excel is the tested format.

Can I edit it? Yes. The workbook and the Word files are fully editable. Blue cells in the workbook are inputs. Clear the sample rows and enter your own data.

Are there refunds? This is a digital download and nothing is shipped. Refund terms follow the store policy. Check the sample pages in the preview before you buy.

Who is it for? Hotels of any size that have meters and invoices: chief engineers, general managers, finance controllers and owners. It also suits serviced apartments and resorts.
