MMIW2GS is a difficult topic to talk about especially with young students. This resource is intended for elementary students grade 5-7. The purpose of this of this resource is to look at the discrepancies portrayed in the media when Indigenous women and girls go missing compared to Non-Indigenous women and girls. This resource also looks at the symbolic representation of the red hand over the mouth in protest of the inequities of the RCMP and justice system. This resource is not intended to focus on murdered Indigenous women, you can incorporate this with older students.
