Mirror Image Fingerless Mitts

Simple fingerless mitts which allow you to play with two colours that transition from one to the other over the length of the mitt. Choose to make a perfectly matched or perfectly mirrored pair. These seamless mitts have long ribbed cuffs to keep your wrists cosy. The hands are worked in stocking stitch and there is a thumb gusset for easy movement. Another rib section at the top ensures a snug fit around your fingers, and this can be worn folded back when you prefer to have your fingers uncovered.
Instructions are also given for making the mitts with a simple bold stripe.
YARN
2 50 gram skeins of The Knitting Goddess Be Reyt yarn
4ply/Fingering weight; 60% Exmoor Blueface, 20% Corriedale, 10% Zwartables, 10% nylon
200m / 218yds per 50g skein
The mitts shown are worked in Teal (MC) and Wisteria (CC)
2 skeins of Be Reyt 4ply will be enough to work all sizes, and you’ll have enough yarn to make perfectly matching mitts if you don’t want to create mitts which mirror each other.
SUGGESTED NEEDLES & NOTIONS
2mm (UK14/US0) set of double-pointed needles (DPNs) OR
80cm/32” length circular needle for working magic loop
3 stitch markers
20cm /8” length of smooth waste yarn in a similar thickness to the working yarn
Tapestry needle
SIZE XS (S, M, L, XL)
Finished measurements:
15.25 (16.5, 17.75, 19, 20)cm/6 (6 , 7, 7 , 8)” circumference 30cm/12” length.
Designed to be worn with 3-4cm/1 -1 ” negative ease, for a snug fit. For example, the XL will fit a hand with an upto 23cm/9” circumference around palm (just above and excluding thumb).
TENSION
34 sts and 48 rows to 10cm/4” after blocking
Take time to check your tension. This will ensure an accurate fit and that you will have enough yarn to complete your mitts.
