This book discusses why black childen are lagging behind their white counterparts academically in the U.S. school system. Lower test scores and high suspension rates have plagued black chidren for years. I also explore the economic and environmental disadvantages that blacks as a whole face. This book gives a detailed history from slavery to present day relating to the education of blacks in this country. I also discuss the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001. This act was supposed to close the gap in reading and math between black, Hispanic students, and white students. I determine if it has been effective or not.
