I haven’t seen my first boyfriend in almost two decades but I still listen to The Eels, a band I ‘caught’ from him.  This pattern is named for their Daisies of the Galaxy album, as both the socks and the album are for when you need something a little different but very easy going.

Sizes
To fit foot circumference: 21.5 (22.5, 24) cm / 8.5 (9, 9.5) ins
Finished sock size: 19 (20, 21.5) cm / 7.5 (8, 8.5) ins

Recommended ease is negative to ensure the sock fits closely against your foot.  If you are inbetween sizes, go down a size rather than up.

100g of yarn will make up to a UK size 10 of these socks.  Adding a 20g mini-skein as a contrast colour will allow you to make a larger size.

Yarn
Banshee Yarns Yak Sock (400m / 100g), 1 skein.
Shown in: Lichen.

You can find in stock Banshee Yarns colours here.

Yarn Substitution
Many 4ply sock yarns can be substituted into this pattern. Due to the detail in the pattern a semi-solid or only lighted variegated yarn is recommend however or the detail will be lost. When substituting other yarns, swatching is recommended to ensure that the required sock size is achieved and to ensure sufficient yarn is purchased for the project.

Recommended Needles
2.5 mm in your preferred sock needle type: DPNs, short circular sock needles or long circular needle for the magic loop technique.

Notions
Scissors, 4 stitchmarker (more if you are using magic loop or a small circular - to mark your gusset and toes), darning needle for ends

Gauge
32 stitches and 44 rounds to 10 cm / 4 ins measured over the lace pattern and stocking stitch, blocked.

Construction and Techniques
The sock is knit in the round from the cuff down.  The heel is a flap and gusset construction with the gusset being on the bottom of the foot.  The toe is closed using matress stitch.
