Sweet Maple Ear Warmer
Some patterns start with a sketch. This one started with a family trip to Vermont.
We spent our days surrounded by maple trees, crisp air, and all the sweet maple syrup we could eat. (I’m not sure how much syrup is too much, but I think we tested the limit!* ) Those cozy, sticky-fingered moments made me want to knit something wonderful.
The Sweet Maple Ear Warmer is my little love letter to that trip, stitched in a maple leaf motif that celebrates the colors and charm of the fall season.
It’s written to use Ladderback Jacquard to manage the long floats. If you’ve ever fought with loose, snaggy strands on the back of your work, you’re going to love this technique. Full instructions for Ladderback Jacquard are included right in the pattern, so you’ll feel supported every step of the way.
The pattern is both charted and fully written, so you can choose the format that feels best to you.
I’ve included suggested ladder placement to take the guesswork out of it. Or, if you’d like to determine your own ladder placement, the chart and instructions will help you do just that.
And if you’d rather work it with traditional stranded knitting or intarsia, that’s absolutely welcome too.
Make an Ear Warmer for yourself, make it for a loved one, or make a few for gifting.
