Voy's Beach

Voy’s Beach is a top-down knitted sleeveless tee. The lace yoke is knitted sideways and shaped by short rows. The body is picked up from the yoke, knit downwards with a fun colourwork band and slight waist shaping. Short rows at the hem finish the tee with an asymmetrical shape.

(July, 2018)

Lace and colourwork are charted only.

SIZES

XS (S, M, L, XL) with finished busts 33” (34.5”, 37”, 41”, 45”) / 84 (87.5, 94, 104, 114.5) cm. Sample shown is size M on a 35” / 89 cm bust corresponding to 2” / 5cm positive ease. Intended to be worn with 0” to 3” (0cm to 7.5cm) positive ease.

YARN

Jamieson's of Shetland, Shetland Spindrift. Approximately 505 (630, 715, 840, 1050) metres / 550 (690, 780, 920, 1150) yards is needed for the main colour (colour A). The 7 contrast colours (B though H) required less than 50 metres / 55 yards each. Any fingering yarn would work; a smoother yarn would give a more draped result, if desired. Sample colours:

A: Surf

B: Aqua

C: Seabright

D: Yell Sound Blue

E: Eesit

F: Mooskit

G: Mogit

H: Moorit

GAUGES

Yoke lace gauge: 27 sts and 32 rows of Chart A1 to 4” / 10 cm with 3mm needles after blocking (or needle size required to match gauge).

Stockinette stitch: 30 sts and 38 rounds to 4” / 10cm with 2.75mm needles after blocking (or needle size required to match gauge).

Colourwork band: 30 sts and 30 rounds to 4” / 10cm with 3.25mm needles after blocking (or needle size required to match

gauge).

NEEDLES & NOTIONS

Size A: 2.75mm (US 2) circular needles (stockinette body)

Size B: 3mm (US 2.5) circular or straight needles (lace yoke)

Size C: 3.25mm (US 3) circular needles (colourwork band)

Note: many knitters find that they need to use smaller needles for single colour stockinette to achieve the same gauge as the colourwork; you may or may not need needles smaller than your colourwork needles for the rounds of single colour stockinette. Be sure to swatch and always use a needle size that will result in the correct gauge after blocking.

You will also need:

stitch markers, removable markers, spare circular needle of smaller diameter than your knittingneedle for the lace yoke, tapestry needle, crochet hook
