The Recycled Woman — God Didn’t Throw Me Away. He Recycled Me.

“God didn’t throw me away. He recycled me.”

Ronke Immanuel is eighty years old today, 8 September 2026. She grew up in Nigeria when money was tight. There was a season when she had no decent clothes to wear to church, and she did not know how to pray.

Then she met Jesus. And the woman who had almost nothing began to make things out of nothing.

She began to see what nobody else in the room could see. Treasure in the trash. Beauty in the broken. Another purpose hiding inside a finished one.

Her daughter, Bishop Veronica Anusionwu, walked around her mother’s home asking questions. The handbag was finished, but the handle wasn’t. The bracelet was finished, but the stones weren’t. The tree was broken, but its beauty wasn’t.

And underneath every object was one conviction: something can finish its first purpose without finishing its usefulness.

Because she was learning to see the way her Lord sees.

Jesus looked at the leftovers of a miracle and called them worth gathering. He looked at a tax collector everybody despised and called him down from a tree. He looked at a woman at a well with a complicated history and sat down to talk with her. He looked at a disciple who had denied Him three times and said: feed My sheep.

“God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.”(1 Corinthians 1:27)

Ronke Immanuel sees treasure in what other people discard because she knows what it is to be picked up. She was the foolish thing. She was the weak thing. She was the thing with nothing to offer. And He made something of her.

So now she cannot walk past a broken thing without seeing what it could still become.
