Size

One size

Width, measured along the upper edge: approx. 196cm / 77.15”

Depth (measured along the center stitch): approx. 74cm / 29.25”

Construction

This heart-shaped shawl is worked from the top (near the neck) downwards. Every right side a total of 6 sts are added, two on each outside edge and two in the center of the shawl.

After 10 rows in stockinette stitch, the stitch pattern of part 2 is worked 24 times (or to your desired length), then the border is made in stitch pattern but with garter stitch rows in between instead of stockinette stitch. Then you bind it off with a crochet bind-off.

Materials

Yarn

1 Skeins Madejas Tejerlo, Asubio (100% Cotton) fingering weight, 250g (1000m / 1163yrds) in color

As gauge isn’t really necessary, you can work it in any yarn and matching needles. Just keep in mind, sizes will be different and also yardage to finish the project.

Needles

Circular needle in size to obtain gauge (or matching your yarn), 100cm / 40” in length.

Sample was knit on 3.5 mm / US 4 circular needles

3.5 mm / US 6 crochet hook

Notions

1 Stitch marker for “middle-of-shawl”

Darning needle

Blocking pins

Blocking mat

Gauge

22 sts and 36 rows per 10cm / 4”, worked flat in stitch pattern (part 2), after blocking.

Changes in gauge, while not crucial for the fit of the project, will result in size differences and affect the amount of yarn needed to complete the project.

Techniques Used
