I was craving a cozy layering piece that still felt elegant. I designed Latha with an open front to create an effortless layered look. The soft swing and fullness at the hem, achieved through subtle A-line shaping, completes the cozy feel. A delicate, vine-like lace panel runs alongside the front bands, adding visual interest to the garment.

PATTERN NOTES

♡Latha is a fingering-weight, top-down, open-front, V-neck cardigan seamlessly knit with set-in sleeves. It features an A-line silhouette accented by delicate lace panels on the front, while the rest of the garment is worked in stockinette. 

♡A-line shaping adds about 7” / 18 cm to the bottom circumference of the cardigan. You may choose to omit A- 

line shaping and knit the cardigan straight down from the armhole without the increases. 

♡This cardigan is designed with a folded hem detail for the bottom hem and double knit buttonbands. You may substitute 1 x 1 ribbing for the hem as well as buttonbands, if desired.

Latha Cardigan is designed to be worn with approximately 2 - 4” / 5 - 10 cm of positive ease at the chest. Sample shown in size 2, being worn on a 36” chest.

Sea Change Fibers Fjord Tweed Fingering, 89% Wool - Merino 11% Wool - Rambouillet, 

440 yards / 402 m per 100 g / 3.5 oz in Around the Mulberry Bush colorway.

YARN REQUIREMENTS 

3 (3, 4, 4, 4)5, 5, 5, 5 skeins of Sea Change Fibers Fjord Tweed Fingering or 

1147 (1275, 1407, 1536, 1660) 1772, 1894, 2076, 2192 yards/ 1049 (1166, 1286,1404, 1518) 1621, 1732, 1898, 2005 m of fingering weight yarn.

NEEDLES USED 

Larger Needles 

3.5 mm / US 4 circular needles, minimum length 24”/ 60 cm for the body of the sweater. 

Smaller Needles 

3.25 mm / US 3 circular needles: Minimum length 24”/ 60 cm for bottom hem. 

Minimum length 32” / 80 cm for buttonbands.

GAUGE 

22 sts and 35 rows = 4”/ 10 cm, using larger needles, in stockinette stitch, blocked. 

20 sts and 35 rows = 4”/ 10 cm, using larger needles, in lace stitch, blocked.
