My IVF Journey

Hello, my name is Alison.

I have spent the last two years researching IVF and aim to dispel the mis-information that is circulated amongst both doctors and women, particularly for older women. There are many levels to understanding IVF and if we listen to the surface level rhetoric, it is often very difficult to succeed. Here on this site, I aim to offer a deeper understanding than the norm and bring to the fore knowledge and approaches which should be mainstream.

I came to the IVF Journey in 2024 after a severe trauma. I already had a son naturally but he was kidnapped by his abusive Father when he was just 5. I have been fighting for him back ever since. So, I am effectively, like many women who will be reading this, childless. In October 2024, I suddenly had the thought ‘he has taken your only child (and indeed, your only family), don’t let him take the chance of having another child’. I have been acting on that thought ever since.

I have just completed my 6th and final egg retrieval via two clinics in Cyprus and Greece. During my research and after speaking with literally thousands of women from around the world, I have seen concerning patterns and much false and ignorant information disseminated in the IVF community particularly around PGT testing and general approaches for older women. I wanted to expose these myths and mis-understandings and make hidden truths available as standard knowledge for women before they embark on their journeys. Most women only come to this knowledge after several failed rounds and much debt and heartache.

It is my aim to make this a much easier journey.

I am a writer, a spiritual teacher (that means a teacher of wisdom rather than anything woo-woo) and Meditation for Health and Chronic Illness specialist. I therefore understand the impact of the mind and what it believes on our physical health (and indeed anything for that matter). I am not a specialist in IVF, in fact I am more of a ‘generalist’, meaning that I am trained to observe patterns and truths from a distance, from outside of the box. I often find that being a ‘specialist’ brings with it a closed mind which is bound by a textbook and is dictated and limited by that current knowledge. I have found that doctors often cannot see the wood for the trees and so I hope to offer my open mind and ability to think around corners to the IVF community.

Over the last two years I have helped 1000s of women for free with the knowledge I have gained from my IVF research. However, after struggling financially due to giving up my own businesses to fight in court for my son and the emotional torture that comes with this (I am representing myself in court) plus the IVF journey which I began solo, I ask here for a small contribution to the many hundreds of hours it has taken me to research and compile these articles. I have purposefully kept the cost bare minimum in the hope that these articles can be as accessible to as many women as possible, but whilst also still honouring myself and the horror I have survived (I am still alive and I am now beginning to thrive!) and the research I have put in.

Your contribution will help me fight for my son. I have now regained contact and he is in my life a little, though there is much psychological damage to both of us which may never heal. There is still a battle on my hands.

I felt that, as my Motherhood was stolen and I could not do anything to help or protect my son for three years, the best way of healing was to channel all my effort and Love into creating a new child. This research springs from that loving desire.

I feel I address the major topics in IVF which are very helpful to know before women start the journey and whilst I do make reference to some research papers, my primary aim is to actually go into the space prior to research; the insights that all women eventually glean on this journey – usually after 4-5 cycles – but which research has not caught up with nor had time to prove yet.

We do not need to wait for the research as it will be too late for many, but we do need to debunk the myths and lies which surround IVF. Millions of women worldwide are losing their opportunity to have children due to mis-information.

I have only written about the areas of IVF which have featured in my journey. There are many other areas for which I have no experience. I am not a medical doctor; I am just a woman who has been fighting for two children, alone. So please do not take my suggestions as medical advice. They are made merely to help offer alternative ways of thinking and they may not be suitable for everyone. I invite you to take my research as a starting point and continue to research yourself to see if what I suggest is relevant and safe for yourself.

There is purposefully not a picture of me here so that my identity is concealed given my current situation.

With Love to all Women and Mothers-To-Be,

Please stand together with your fellow women and PLEASE advocate for yourself in your IVF Journey.
