About Me

Growing up, I knew that I wanted to change the world with a gift that I possessed.  I began to learn that my gifts were helping people and technology.  I have helped people, volunteering and working at community centers throughout my adolescent and teenage years.  Till this day, I teach my children the value of giving and enjoy sharing anything that I have learned with my family, friends and possibly someone that I have never met or do not plan to continue a relationship with.

Throughout my career, I have touched every piece of technology you can think of.  I earned my bachelor’s degree in computer science at Bowie State University and began to write software.  I interned at NASA as a Java developer and worked full-time with the Department of Agriculture as a visual basic developer.  After barely scratching the surface in software development, I began to build hardware systems at home where I created a business to do basic software installation, configuration and troubleshooting of personal computers.  From there, I worked at multiple government agencies and contracting companies, where I focused on architecting, installing, configuring and troubleshooting networking systems (i.e. routers, switches), storage systems (i.e. direct attached storage, network attached storage and storage attached networks), and learning skills such as virtualization, system administration and anything I could get my hands on.  Securing these systems began to interest me.  So, I completed my master’s in cyber security at the University of Maryland University College.  I shared a similar interest in storage and worked at EMC and Hitachi Vantara Federal to combine my knowledge in storage and securing the data.

As you can see, I have a lot of experience in the field of technology.  So, why Data Science?  Data Science is everywhere and undoubtedly the most valuable resource we have.  I do not see anything replacing it.  Data will be the reason why we solve most of life’s mysteries.  This is how I can use my superpowers of helping others combined with my skills in technology.   I decided to begin my career in the field of Data Science.  As I write this book, I am also pursuing my doctorate in Data Science at Northcentral University.  My goals are to use data to make a difference in the world, teach the black culture that data is cool, and teach the world that EVERYONE can use data to make better decisions.
