About Me
Hello! I'm Heather Shahan, teacher by day and author by night. I grew up in rural Florida, but I’ve lived in Texas for over a decade. I spent my childhood at the whims of my imagination, daydreaming and creating stories about elves, princesses, pirates, and fairies. I fell in love with reading in middle school and devoured books week after week. Now I write them.
For a long time, my writing was relegated to summers, and I felt that I couldn't write during the school year. In July 2023, I decided that I wouldn't push my writing aside yet again. Determined, I began to find little bits of time as many days as I could: after work, while my son was at practice, and before bed. I quickly learned that little bits add up and slow but steady wins the race. Averaging about 250 words a day during the school year and 1,000 during the summer, I manage about 150,000 a year.
I live in Texas with my husband Jeremy, son Isaac, and pup Oakley. When not teaching or writing, I can usually be found snuggling my family, reading, or slaying dragons on World of Warcraft.
