The author became the youth champion in "checkers" of the Netherlands in 1963 after defeating the future world champion (in 1972) Ton Sijbrands in the preliminary round. He settled in Spain in 1974, and today, he is a researcher and the author of more than 225 books. He was between 2002 and 2019 one of the two Official Chronicles of the village Blanca (Murcia) and he is Member of the "Real Asociación Española de Cronistas Oficiales" in Madrid and of the "Asociación de Cronistas Oficiales de la Región de Murcia". He is Fellow of the "Real Academia de Alfonso X el Sabio" in Murcia, as well as Hispanist by the "Asociación Internacional de Hispanistas" (AIH) and by the Asociación de Hispanistas del Benelux (AHBx).
