Congratulations to you, whether you are a mother, father, grandparent, or support person to the mother who is expecting a baby to arrive soon. There are a lot of things to get ready to welcome the baby. We do our best to provide our babies with the best that we can give. There is one thing that a mother can provide for her children and the benefit of it does not limit to the childhood but a lifetime. And that’s breastfeeding.
Why do some mothers breastfeed for so long while others stop after only a few days trying? “I just don’t have enough milk for my baby”. It is not about the breast size, or the brands of breast pump you use. The very important deciding factor of how much milk you can produce is what you do in the first few hours and days after your baby is born. Being a healthcare professional myself, I don’t even know what I don’t know about breastfeeding, until I have my first child and the journey and learning begin at the same time.
Whether you are expecting your first child, or has some problems breastfeeding your previous child, or just wanting some refresher knowledge on breastfeeding, this breastfeeding course will help by providing you with important breastfeeding knowledge, techniques and practices to prepare you with a good start.
This course is not to drown you with information you probably can just look up from the internet, but to practically guide you step by steps from the very important FIRST FEW HOURS & DAYS after given birth to get the milk coming in and how to maintain your milk supply after that. The ultimate goals are to help you to breastfeed your child with confidence and skills, preparing you to overcome common problems with breastfeeding, and to help answer to the many questions you probably have regarding breastfeeding. The aim of this course is simple:
1. To increase the chance that you produce enough breast milk for your babies
2. "When problems arise, you know exactly what to do."
The topics in this course have been carefully selected and organized to provide you with the best learning experience. Some topics are presented in videos, while others are in text format. You’ll also find links to some valuable videos. Handouts will be provided for some important issues, which will be helpful to you after giving birth. Take your time, explore, and enjoy all the contents —you’re off to a great start!
