Inevitably, writers draw on their own family history. I am no different. Amongst other genres, I write historical fiction, currently the Burning Tree series, a family saga set between Madagascar and across occupied Europe in the 1940s. It follows three sisters through colonial displacement, resistance, and the long aftermath of war.

Under the name George A. Blake, I also write for younger readers. Pimplewart is about a boy who doesn't quite fit the shape he's been handed: This is one of a series of musings I've compiled about people finding their place in the world, however long that takes.
