In this teaching were reframing SIN and understanding that the universe is a school for self discovery
We’ve been told the same story over and over:
“You were born in sin.”
“You should be grateful you exist.”
“You should not question.”
But let’s stop right there.
How can I be guilty of something I never asked for?
How can I be condemned before I even take my first step?
How can my very existence be wrong?
That’s not truth. That’s fear.
Decoding Sin
Let’s peel back the word itself.
In Greek, “sin” is hamartia → it doesn’t mean “evil.”
It means to miss the mark.
Like an archer aiming, but not quite hitting the target.
In Hebrew, one word is chata’ → meaning to go astray, to miss.
See the pattern? Sin isn’t wickedness. It’s not demonic. It’s simply:
Not knowing. Missing. Falling short.
And if we break it symbolically:
- S = Separation
- I = Individual
- N = Not Knowing
So sin is not guilt.
It’s simply the state of being human: an individual, separate, born into not-knowing.
Where Religion Twisted It
Here’s the problem.
Instead of teaching us that “sin” is the natural starting point,
religion weaponized it.
They told us that being born not-knowing = being born broken.
That questions equal rebellion.
That doubt equals shame.
That obedience is the cure.
Fear became the teacher.
Guilt became the classroom.
Control became the curriculum.
But that’s not education.
That’s indoctrination.
The Universe = The University
Now look deeper.
The word universe means “everything turned into one.”
The totality. The whole.
The word university means “a collective of learners, a school of knowledge.”
Do you see it?
We are born into a universe — which itself is a university.
A school where the lessons come as life itself.
You didn’t ask to enroll.
But you’re here.
The syllabus?
- Joy and heartbreak.
- Loss and love.
- Confusion and clarity.
- Failing and trying again.
Every day, a lecture.
Every mistake, a test.
Every relationship, a mirror.
This is the University of the Universe.
The Flip
So maybe “sin” was never about guilt.
Maybe it’s just the tuition fee of existence: being born not knowing, and learning as you go.
You’re not broken. You’re a student.
You’re not guilty. You’re in class.
You’re not condemned. You’re in process.
The only real “sin”?
Never questioning.
Never exploring.
Never discovering who you are beyond the lessons they gave you.
As we close
You were not born damned.
You were born curious.
You were not born guilty.
You were born unfinished.
The universe is the school.
Life is the curriculum.
You are both the student and the subject.
So don’t let fear define your education.
Don’t let guilt be your teacher.
Don’t let control write your exams.
You came here to learn, to expand, to remember yourself.
And when you do…
that’s not sin.
That’s salvation.. alchemy
