The Return

In 1882, Robert Martin’s story takes an unexpected turn.

Drawn back across the Atlantic to the Jamaican islands, he finds himself once again connected to a land shaped by the legacy of slavery. Whether sent as part of security forces or drawn into the aftermath of rebellion, Robert’s journey forces him to confront a past that refuses to stay buried.

The Return follows Robert Martin’s dramatic voyage back to the Caribbean and explores the historical tensions of the post-emancipation era. As the Martins’ story crosses oceans and empires, the book reveals how the legacy of slavery continued to shape lives long after freedom was declared.

It is a journey into history, memory, and the unfinished echoes of the Atlantic world.
