Why I Started Grace Period
Hi, I’m Nicole, founder of Grace Period.
I was born and raised in New York City. Harlem, to be exact. Growing up in New York taught me to appreciate hard work, community, and the impact that small businesses can have on people’s lives.
I’ve always been someone who pays attention to what I bring into my home. Whether it’s food, tea, candles, skincare, or everyday products, I’m often the person reading labels, researching ingredients, and looking for thoughtful alternatives.
Over time, I also became more aware of how my cycle affected my mood, energy, and overall well being. Like many women, I noticed that certain times of the month felt more challenging than others.
That led me to ask a simple question: What can I do to take better care of myself during this time?
That question started me on a journey of learning more about self-care, period wellness, and the small things that can make a difficult week feel a little easier. From the products I use to the routines I create for myself, I became more intentional about supporting my physical and emotional well-being.
Around the same time, I became interested in more sustainable period care options. I prefer reusable period underwear because they’re practical, reusable, and help reduce waste. As I incorporated them into my routine, I realized there wasn’t a simple, discreet way to carry and separate clean and worn underwear while on the go.
That’s where the idea for Grace Period began.
The Grace Period pouch was created to help women stay prepared, organized, and confident throughout their cycle. It’s a simple solution to a common problem, designed with real life in mind.
As Grace Period grows, my goal is to continue choosing products thoughtfully, supporting small businesses whenever possible, and exploring sustainable options that help women feel cared for during every stage of their cycle.
Whenever possible, I love supporting local makers, small businesses, and black owned brands. Many of the products I’m exploring come from businesses right here in New York State. While not every product can be sourced locally, supporting businesses that share values of quality, community, and care will always be important to me.
Grace Period is about more than a pouch. It’s about preparation, self-care, confidence, and giving ourselves a little more grace during the times we need it most.
More than anything, I want to build a brand that women trust.
Thank you for being here and supporting this journey.
