The Presence Principle: Cultivating the Hum

Grateful moment to pause and reflect. Another two books sold. One book was delivered last week, and the other is to be delivered in person to a close friend after the holidays.

Especially meaningful to me during this holiday season, when we’re all moving fast but trying to stay grounded.

This week has me thinking about the “hum” that can be heard within the walls of great schools and organizations. This thought is also reflected in Chapter 3 of Legacy-Driven Leadership titled “The Presence Principle: Leading with Humanity at the Center.”

Every school and every organization has those quiet moments of brilliance. The steady pulse that tells you something is working, even if it isn’t loud or flashy. That hum doesn’t happen by chance; it’s cultivated through intentional leadership, careful observation, and a commitment to learning together through a shared vision.

The real work isn’t just celebrating a win. The real work is paying attention to the conditions that made it possible, then helping that success resonate beyond a single moment.

Not copying…not controlling… just aligning.

As this year winds down, I’m thankful for every reader, every conversation, and every leader choosing ‘coherence over chaos’.

Wishing you a season filled with reflection, alignment, and a steady hum beneath the surface.

Happy holidays.
