Mark Eaton Psychologist

Mark Eaton is a Clinical Psychologist, qualified in South Africa and the United Kingdom. When the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) recently opened the register for the professional category of Neuropsychology, Mark had his specialist training, qualifications and long-standing experience in this field verified by the Board, and he is now additionally officially registered as a qualified Neuropsychologist in South Africa. Since 2001, he was in part-time private practice in Port Elizabeth while a full time Lecturer in the Psychology Department at the then University of Port Elizabeth, now Nelson Mandela University. 

 

From 2003 he furthered his qualifications in the United Kingdom, obtaining his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology equivalent through the British Psychological Society. He worked as a Highly Specialist Clinical Psychologist in private hospitals, the National Health Service, and also started a part-time private practice in London. Since returning from the United Kingdom in February 2006, he has been in full time Private Practice. 

 

His clinical practice includes being a treating therapist of children, adults, and older persons. He is qualified in many therapeutic modalities and is also a Level 1 and Level 2 qualified BrainWorking Recursive Therapy® (BWRT®) practitioner. He has been selected as an accredited BWRT® supervisor for national and international training therapists. His forensic and medico-legal practice includes being an expert witness in civil and criminal litigation cases, often providing opinions of a specialist neuropsychological focus and/or on matters of medical negligence, personal injury, curatorship/capacity, and/or aspects relating to family law matters. 

 

His academic history has included working as a university lecturer over a period of 4 years, a clinical and research supervisor of training Psychologists and training Psychiatrists in SA and the UK, a clinical rater for international clinical trial research studies for Dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease, and a reviewer of academic journal articles in South Africa. 

 

Mark has served on the South African Medico-Legal Association (SAMLA) Eastern Cape Committee as well as on the SAMLA National Faculty Committee.


He enjoys offering training, workshops, and webinars to professionals, companies, and groups, to assist in them applying psychological principles in bettering their knowledge, as well as their emotional and interpersonal wellness.
