I competed in empty hand kata/forms, weapon kata/forms, point sparring, demo team, self-defense, breaking, knock down tournaments, Ippon at a local level all the way to AAU nationals three years in a row in the early 1990’s. I have won, lost, and placed at some point in time in all of the above competitions. I have competed in about a dozen grappling/BJJ tournaments at each belt level. As a white belt, blue belt, purple belt I have won, placed and lost at different times at each level. I have numerous kickboxing matches/smokers that were not sanctioned in the early 1990’s. I have competed in four amateur MMA fights two as a blue belt and two as a purple belt. I won one and lost one at each level. I did get a title belt at Battle at the Expo in 2009. I had my first professional MMA fight at 42 years old and won with a first round submission in one minute thirty seconds. I fought in a ring and in the cage. Coaching: I have trained and promoted 43 Black Belts in karate. I have numerous state champions and a couple national champions. I have trained thousands of Marines and promoted hundreds of Marines in the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program. I have trained over 30 MMA title holders so far.
