About the author

Nour Beydoun is a Mental Health and Protection expert with over 15 years of humanitarian experience across Southeast and Southwest Asia, West Africa, and Europe, working at the intersection of psychosocial support and protection in conflict and displacement settings. Her field practice has focused on designing and leading programmes that place Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) at the core of emergency response, integrating gender-based violence (GBV) prevention, child protection, and civil documentation rights to address the layered psychological impacts of displacement, violence, and protracted crises. She has worked extensively with frontline teams, supporting them to navigate grief, identity, dehumanisation, and burnout, and to hold space for people and communities in moments of rupture while safeguarding dignity and agency.

Nour is also the co-founder of LUMiX Consulting, a women-led humanitarian consultancy specialising in protection, GBV, and MHPSS. Through LUMiX, she brings together technical expertise, field experience, and applied research to support humanitarian organisations in programme design, safeguarding, capacity strengthening, and the development of practical, context-responsive approaches. Her work emphasises locally grounded knowledge, ethical practice, and the meaningful integration of psychosocial wellbeing and protection into humanitarian action.

Nour holds a BA in Clinical Psychology and Psychopathology from Saint Joseph University in Beirut, a diploma in Internal Displacement, Conflict and Protection from the University of London, and an Executive Master's in Psychosocial Support and Conflict Transformation from the Lebanese University. She is currently completing an MSc in Psychology at Northumbria University, with research focused on the psychological distress of Lebanese national humanitarian workers responding to multiple concurrent crises. Her work brings an integrative lens to mental health, honouring the whole person and the cultural contexts that shape wellbeing. Her practice background spans cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), trauma-focused therapies, grief support, and trauma-informed coaching.
