Feeels (Yes that's how you spell it) is a wonderful site a found a few weeks ago. It's great for exploring and expanding vocabulary for describing feelings and it's beautifully designed.
The different emotions are arranged around a centre core that includes sadness, surprise, love, joy, anger and fear and the as the circle expands out the emotions become more precise and articulate variations of those emotions.
This has been designed to be used as a kind of emotional journal, so you can click on the one you are feeling and write a sentence or two about it and why you are feeling that way.
When you log in you can go back and read your previous entries.
How to use this with students:
- You could use this with students to expand their vocabulary and get them to use it as a journaling tool for a week and then share what colours were most prominent over their week.
- You could get them to select 3 emotions at the beginning of each class and write a sentence about each one describing when they feel that way.
- They could select two emotions that are next to each other and explain how they are different.
- They could try to find the most accurate antonym from the opposite side of the circle and explain why they chose it.
- You could select a feeling and get the students to suggest words they associate with that feeling.
- You could get students to discuss the relationship between the colours and the feelings.
- You could ask students to discuss why they think someone created the site and what their motivation was.
- You could ask students to discuss whether using the site to journal about their feelings would have any long terms negative or positive impacts.

I hope you and your students enjoy this beautifully design site.
