About Jee

Hi, I’m Jee, a nontraditional premed in my 30s, a full-time healthcare professional, former journalist, and the creator behind @premed_in30s

My path to medicine has been anything but traditional. I came to the U.S. from Korea as a first-generation immigrant and graduated with a degree in Communication. I spent several years working as a journalist before transitioning into healthcare, and eventually realizing that I wanted to pursue medicine myself.

So, in my late 20s, I started over. Since then, I’ve been completing my pre-med prerequisites while working full-time, studying in the evenings and on weekends, and building my path toward medical school one step at a time.

Today, I share the real, imperfect process of pursuing medicine in my 30s: studying, working, MCAT prep, shadowing, lessons I’ve learned, and everything in between.

I’m still figuring it out, too. But if sharing my journey can make someone else think, “Maybe I can do it too,” then this space is doing exactly what I hoped it would.

If you’re starting later, changing careers, or simply creating your own path, I’m glad you’re here 🤎
