Act Happy Day Is Here — Smile, Laugh, and Fake It ‘Til You Feel It!

Can simply acting happy actually make you feel happier? 😊

According to the lovely team over at National Today, today is Act Happy Day—a cheerful little reminder that our mood can follow our actions. Out of all the fun and meaningful national days listed on National Today (and trust me, there are a lot), this one really stood out to me. There’s something peaceful and empowering about choosing joy, even when life feels heavy.

Founded by psychologist Dr. Dale Anderson, Act Happy Day encourages us to embrace positive behavior—even if it feels a bit forced at first. Smiling, laughing, complimenting a stranger, or dancing around your living room can actually boost your mood and even your health. It’s about leaning into happiness, not waiting for it to magically appear.

I felt appeased and comforted by this simple message today: happiness doesn’t always have to be spontaneous. Sometimes, we can create it for ourselves and pass it along to others.

So go ahead—act happy today. You might just feel happier too.

What will you do today to spread a little joy or laughter? Drop a comment below—I’d love to hear your happy ideas!
