Ron Sikes - MLO Music Publications

Ron Sikes began teaching in the Jefferson R-VII School District (Festus, Missouri) in 2000. His responsibilities include 5th Grade Band, 6th Grade Band, 7th/8th Grade Band, 7th/8th Grade Jazz Band, High School Jazz/Salsa Band, and High School Concert Band. In 2011 & 2015, The Jefferson High School Concert Band was selected to perform at the Missouri Music Educators Association Convention. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Ron maintains a busy schedule as a clinician, composer, percussionist (freelance), drum set artist (Funky Butt Brass Band), & frottoirist (Southside Creole Playboys & Boudin Bros.). Ron has served as a guest clinician/director/conductor for honor groups such as MAAA (MS concert band), Metro 8 (MS jazz), St. Louis Suburban (MS jazz), and more. Mr. Sikes is a graduate of Jefferson College (Associate of Arts), University of Missouri - St. Louis (Bachelor of Music Education), & Missouri Baptist University (Masters in Educational Administration). Ron Sikes’ professional affiliations include the MBA, Phi Beta Mu, NAfME, MOJAE, MMEA, and MSTA, and remains active as performer, teacher, and clinician throughout the area. Ron is currently serving as Jazz Vice-President of MMEA. He has also served as President and HS Jazz Vice-President of East Central #7. Ron Sikes is endorsed by Vic Firth Sticks & Mallets.
