Born in Moscow, Dr. Anton Belov was educated in the United States, receiving a Bachelor of Music degree from the New England Conservatory, Master of Music from The Juilliard School and a Doctorate of Musical Arts from Boston University. He studied lyric diction with John Moriarty, Nico Castel, Corradina Caporello, Kathryn LaBouff, and Richard Cross. As a successful performer he has earned critical acclaim for his portrayals of characters as diverse as Count di Luna, Don Giovanni, Escamillo, Count Almaviva, and Eugene Onegin. His baritone voice has been praised as “rich and mellifluous” by the New York Times and his performance as full of "great emotional honesty” by Opera News. Equally at home with oratorio and concert repertoire, Mr. Belov presented over one hundred recitals throughout the United States, appearing at such venues as Carnegie Recital Hall in New York City and the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. Mr. Belov is the first place winner of eight vocal competitions including the George London Competition, the Licia Albanese Puccini Foundation International Competition, and the Young Concert Artists International Auditions. His Libretti of Russian Operas in Word-for-Word Translation and IPA Transcription (Leyerle Publications, 2004) is used throughout the English-speaking world.
