About Me

Hi, I'm Silvia

I'm a biomedical engineer and geneticist, a mum, a wife, and someone who has always been fascinated by how the human body works.

My professional background has taken me through biomedical research, genetics, bioinformatics and the world of the gut and microbiome. Over the years, science has taught me to look at health with curiosity, question simple answers and understand that our bodies are wonderfully complex.

But Better Not Perfect didn't come from a textbook.

It came from real life.

After becoming a mum and moving abroad, my priorities changed. Like many women, I found myself putting my family first and having less time and energy for myself. At the same time, I realised that many of the things I do every day to look after myself had gradually become simple habits rather than something I had to constantly think about.

Friends started asking me about them, and those conversations made me realise that perhaps the things I had come to take for granted could actually help other women too.

So I decided to write them down.

Better Not Perfect is my way of sharing a simple approach to food, movement, organisation and everyday wellbeing — based on my scientific background, my personal experience and what has worked for me in real life.

I'm not here to tell you to be perfect.

I'm here to remind you that small changes, made consistently, can make a meaningful difference.

Nourish. Understand. Organise. Move. Trust.

That's Better Not Perfect.
