Payhip FAQs (Digital Downloads)

It's very easy, like buying on any other site. You'll find instructions with screenshots here.

No.
I'm not even integrating the newsletter system to auto-add you to my newsletter (if you want quarterly updates, head here and sign up yourself).
I won't email you asking you to leave a review.
I won't bug you at all. I've attempted to turn off any potential setting for something that might pester customers. No one wants that kind of thing. The only emails you get should be from Payhip with your download information.
I promise I have no interest in bothering you. I just want you to buy my books and enjoy them.

Payhip has an article here on how to find your downloads.
They also have numerous articles here on how to send to Kindle and other devices, and how to load your files.
I read on my iPad so what I typically do myself is open my email on my iPad, find the email from Payhip, download the file, and then choose to open the file in Apple Books. That puts eBooks in my regular library.

MP3 format does not allow for chapter breaks (unless I divide them all as separate MP3 files for each chapter, which would then increase the risk of them ending up in the wrong order or there being a missed download). As well, most audiobook apps from different stores are locked as to not allow outside-purchased audiobooks.
To maintain the experience of having chapter breaks and ease of use for playing like you'd find via third party stores, I have opted to sell books as M4B files, which allows for a single file of multiple MP3 files and chapter breaks that you can skip forward and back like usual. There are a lot of free apps you can use to listen.
if uncertain, please remember I offer a "learn to sideload" offer so you can try out an M4B file and ensure you can play it, free of charge.

Most store apps are locked so you can only listen to audiobooks you've bought through them. An M4B file, though, is set up to be like the audiobooks you listen to complete with chapter breaks and everything.
When purchasing an audiobook file, you'll also receive a PDF with some app suggestions depending on your device. To repeat those suggestions:
On PC, I successfully used VLC Media Player.
For your Android Device, you might try: Smart Audiobook Player, Listen Audiobook Player, or MortPlayer
For iOS, you can try: MP3 Audiobook Player, Bound, BookPlayer (I use this one)
The instructions above for finding your download while on mobile also apply to audiobook files. If you're on a Mac desktop, you might be able to easily add the M4B to your Apple Books library.

USD. I had to pick one and that's how clients typically pay me so it's what my PayPal is set to. This does raise the price for Canadians and others, and for that I apologize.
-
Yes, I have a product set up that is exactly that: have a trial run with the M4B audio file, a PDF and epub for your eReader, and another PDF with some suggestions for audiobook players.
-
Yes, please do! I want you to be able to have the files on whatever device you use for reading and back them up to your own private storage.
-
No. The file is licensed to you and you alone--put it on all your devices, back it up, but do not share. Payhip has a gifting option if you'd like to buy a book for a friend.
Illegal copying and distribution of my work has led to the cancellation of several series. I cannot continue to publish books that people don't buy. Please support worker rights and independent artists--that's the only way more books can be published.
-
You can reach out to Payhip or me for help. I will do my best to guide you or point you in the right direction.
The one issue I've had is that one buyer had been successfully purchasing books and then she stopped receiving emails. I was able to change the email associated with her order to backup one she had and get her order information resent. So please let me know if there's a problem and I should be able to troubleshoot with you.
