Subject: DO NOT READ

Hi Jack aka Mr. Square,

I saw a video online of a girl being a “professional victim” because she was offended by another “professional victim”, while making a payment through the Square platform.

Girl 1: I wish there was an option to round up.

Girl 2: Yeah… that’d be cool.

Girl 1: You should email them.

Girl 2: Little ol’ me?

Girl 1’s Husband: Don’t want to do it yourself?

It was the perfect trifecta of not one, not two, but three people not taking responsibility.

Then she posted the video online.

700,000 others essentially saying, “Little ol’ me can’t do anything in this world.”

It got me thinking about how many people live stuck in that loop, and how Square could actually nudge culture in the other direction while seizing a marketing moment.

Here’s the idea:

  1. Add a “Round Up” feature at checkout. Customers could round up to the nearest dollar for charity, a merchant-selected cause, or community projects.
  2. Use her viral video as the intro commercial.
  3. Roll out the feature with the message:
  4. “Square cares about your feedback, you just have to tell us.” - Jack Dorsey EnDorsey's this message. ([Consider using a pic of you smiling with a big thumbs-up like a campaigning politician])

Buy me a few call options before the news comes out "Square CEO Responds to viral tik tok video"

Customers could round up their total to the nearest dollar, with the extra cents going to a cause (charity, small business fund, community project, even a merchant-selected initiative).

It’s frictionless, positive, and reinforces the mission of Square: empowering small businesses and communities.

Here’s how I got to you:

  1. Googled “CEO of Square.”
  2. Googled “Jack Dorsey email.”
  3. (Total time: 37 seconds. Could’ve been faster, but I had to stop to wipe.)

It’s simple, viral, and it frames Square as the company that listens — and acts.

Would love to hear your thoughts.

Best,

FYI - I'll be posting you on my blog.
