Why I Created This Guide
After suffering a workplace injury, I found myself navigating the Victorian WorkCover system firsthand.
Like many injured workers, I experienced the uncertainty that comes with medical appointments, IMEs, weekly payments, impairment assessments, lawyers, and the common law process. One of the most difficult parts of the journey was simply not knowing what was coming next.
I spent countless hours searching online for information, reading websites, forums, and articles, trying to understand the process and what I could expect. While there was information available, much of it felt confusing, incomplete, or difficult to apply to my own situation. The uncertainty often added to my stress and frustration at a time when I was already dealing with an injury and the challenges that came with it.
I created The WorkCover VIC Roadmap to help make the process easier to understand. My goal is not to provide legal advice, but to explain the system in plain English and share practical insights that may help reduce some of the confusion, uncertainty, and stress many injured workers experience.
My hope is that this guide helps others feel more informed, better prepared, and less alone during their WorkCover journey. If it does that, then it has achieved its purpose.
