Key to my Heart is a pattern that combines foundation paper piecing and applique to help you create a perfect log cabin-style heart on a 9"x9" block (or a background block of your choice. The heart measures approximately 8" wide by 7" tall). The log cabin pattern is paper pieced for quick, "perfect" stitching, and then the heart shape is cut out and appliqued onto the background of your choice. The heart is shown on the paper piecing template so that your block is perfectly centered and ready to go.

The center square is perfect for fussy cutting! Find key fabric to share the key to your heart. Or, be creative! Do you love cats? Fussy cut a cat for the center. Love tea? Fussy cut a teapot for the center. Whatever you or the gift recipient loves can be fussy cut for the center of this heart.

This block would be perfect for a variety of Valentine's Day gifts, or even just to show your love any day of the year. You could use this block as a mug rug, mini wall hanging, tea cozy, table runner, or even add it to a larger quilt.

Since this pattern combines foundation paper piecing and applique, I created a tutorial with step-by-step photographs on my blog at http://nightquilter.com/2015/01/16/key-to-my-heart-pattern-and-tutorial/

This pattern does not contain basic paper piecing instructions, but you can find a tutorial with instructions on my blog at http://nightquilter.com/2014/06/03/tutorial-basic-foundation-paper-piecing/

Print out the paper piecing template, hop over to my blog, and get started! I would love to see if you create this block. Photos of your finished block can be posted in my Night Quilter Creations group on Flickr found at: https://www.flickr.com/groups/2748089@N23/. The first three (3) people to buy, complete, and upload a photo of a completed block to the Flickr group or my Craftsy page will receive a full refund OR choice of another pattern from my shop. How about that for sharing the love!?
